How reports and bans work on Otrigal

By the Otrigal team · Updated 6 November 2026 · 4 min read

Every chat on Otrigal has skip, report and block. They do different things, and knowing which to use makes the service better for everyone. This page explains each one, what happens after a report, how bans work and what to do if you think we got it wrong.

When something feels unsafe, leave first. You can report after that.

How to report someone

Open the report option in the chat and pick the closest reason:

You can add a short note. If you would like to tell us more, or to raise something serious, write to support and include the time of the chat.

What happens after a report

The person you report is not told that it was you. Reports count toward a ban, and we have some rules to keep them fair:

Not every report leads to a ban, and that does not mean your report was ignored. Reports also help us spot problems.

How bans work

Bans from reports get longer each time:

BanHow long
First24 hours
Second7 days
ThirdPermanent

After a ban, your video is checked more closely in your chats for a period of time. Our team can also act directly on serious cases. We also work to stop people from coming back on a new account, because a sign-in is only useful if a ban means something.

Otrigal's automated checks can also act on their own, separately from reports, when they find something that breaks the rules.

How to avoid being banned

The full list is in our community guidelines, and our etiquette guide covers the unwritten rules.

If you think you were banned by mistake

Write to support with the email on your account and what happened. Mistakes can happen, particularly with automated systems, and we would rather hear about it. Please do not make a new account to get around a ban.

What reports cannot do

Reports cannot undo what you saw, or stop someone from having recorded a call. They also rely on people using them, and no system catches everyone. That is why your own habits still matter. Frequently asked questions

Will someone know that I reported them?

We do not tell the person who reported them.

How long does a ban last on Otrigal?

A ban from reports lasts 24 hours the first time, 7 days the second time, and is permanent the third time.

Can one person get me banned?

A ban from reports needs several different people to report you within a short time. One person sending many reports counts as one.

What is the difference between block and report?

Block means you and that person are not matched again. Report tells us they broke the rules. You can block without reporting.

What if I was banned by mistake?
