OtrigalMonkey alternative: how Monkey and Otrigal compare
Monkey is one of the best-known names in random video chat. It is also more social than most: its Android app has personal profiles, cards to swipe and group video with friends. If you are looking for a Monkey alternative, it may be because you want something plainer, or because you do not want to use the app.
This page compares it with Otrigal, a free video and text chat for adults 18 and over. The facts about Monkey come from its website, its safety center and its Google Play listing, which we read on 6 November 2026. Sites change, so check before you decide. The Otrigal team wrote this page, and Otrigal is not connected to Monkey.

Where Monkey may suit you better
- You want an Android app. Otrigal does not have one. On Android, Monkey does.
- You want to chat with a friend beside you. Duo chat lets you video chat as a pair. Otrigal is strictly one to one.
- You want to report after a chat. Monkey keeps a match history, so you can find someone and report them later.
- You want a profile. If you like having a card, a mood and a song, Monkey has that.
- You want a large, established service. Its Google Play listing shows more than 10 million downloads.
Where Otrigal may suit you better
- You are on any device and do not want to install anything. Otrigal works the same way everywhere: open your browser and go.
- You do not want to build a profile. On Otrigal nobody browses you. You meet one person at a time, then move on.
- You want clear, free Premium. Otrigal has no paid plans. Invite friends or verify your college to set who you match with.
- You are a student. You can verify your college and see it on a leaderboard.
What is the same on both
Some things are not different, and it would be misleading to pretend otherwise. Both ask you to sign in, and Monkey says its login helps keep out bots. Both are for adults only. Both use automated moderation, and both let you report and block.
And on both, you are still talking to a stranger. Automated checks cannot catch everything, so the same habits apply: keep personal details private, do not send money, and leave any chat that feels wrong. Our safety guide covers this in more detail.
Which one should you pick?
- Pick Monkey if you want an Android app, duo chat, profiles, or a match history.
- Pick Otrigal if you want simple one-on-one chat in a browser, with no profile and no paid plans.
